V6 exposes… Supdt sacked, HRC chief visits

2010030961370501_228440fFollowing the exposure by V6 news channel on the sorry state of affairs of famous Gandhi hospital like provision of basic facilities, drinking water, stretchers, shortage of drugs, unhygienic environs, its superintendent Venkateshwarlu was stripped of his post and a senior doctor P A Chalam was given additional charge as deputy superintendent. The HRC reacted to the channel reports and indicted all concerned for the negligence of the hospital superintendent and staff. HRC chairman Nissar Ahmed Kakru personally inspected the hospital and expressed concern over the lack of basic facilities to the patients and ordered officers to submit a report in a week. The hospital earned a name for saving the lives of many while performing critical operations but due to negligence of a few the institution received a stamp of black mark. People resented over the failure of the machinery. Specifically the hospital superintendent failed in providing a help line number or a complaint box for feedback. In order to cover up the shortcomings, security was directed not to allow media persons into the hospital premises.
