Venkaiah Alleges Congress Receiving Pressure from ‘Outside’


Union Minister for Parliamentary Affair M Venkaiah Naidu termed Congress’ response on the controversial remarks of Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti as ‘irresponsible’ and ‘immature’. He alleged that Congress is under outside pressure.

“What is the external force influencing the Speaker, ask the Congress party”, said Naidu. He immediately added, “By outside, I don’t mean America, China or Italy”.

Speaking on Congress’ remarks saying the Speaker is in pressure, Venkaiah Naidu said, . “They are insulting the institution and defying the Constitution. It is an assault on the Constitution and the Parliamentary system”.

Venakaiah further says, “They wanted the prime minister to speak on the issue in Parliament but even after he disapproved the remarks and called upon everybody to maintain standards and desist from using such language, the Congress is not satisfied.”
