India’s ‘beer giant’ Vijay Mallya is not named in the latest issue of Forbes which has named India’s Top 100 richest on Thursday. Though many uber-rich Indians have seen a significant growth in their wealth since last year, Vijay Mally, under Kingfisher Airlines affect, failed to make his name appear in the list.
He was the 84th richest Indian last year with $800 million. His name was dropped this year as the minimum net worth to appear in the list was marked at $1 billion. Ten other people along with Mallya have been removed from the list.
Forbes said, “The flamboyant Vijay Mallya, who was tagged by his bankers as a “willful defaulter,” also dropped off”.
Vijay Mallya’s Kingfisher Airlines owes 7,600 crore to 17 banks. Many banks have declared Mallya as a ‘Willful Defaulter’.
