The Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrasekhara Rao will lay the foundation stone for the major Telangana Water Grid project later this month. The work on the Rs. 25,000-Crore project would be starting soon from Chotuppal in Nalgonda district.
This mega project will provide water for irrigation and industry across the state. The project is also aimed at meeting the need for drinking water. The pipelines spread over 1-Lakh Kilometre will assure water facility to each and every corner of the state.
Nalgonda has been selected to initiate the project as it has been a hub for the villages that are severely affected of fluorosis.
Rs. 100 Crore has been sanctioned by the state government to conduct a survey on water grid. A meeting with the pipe manufacturers has been called to discuss the piping requirements for the project.
