Speaking at a function to mark the golden jubilee celebrations of VHP, its working president Praveen Togadia said that it was not the time to celebrate but he would celebrate only when Ram Mandir was built in Ayodhya, no cow would be slaughtered in the world and four lakh Kashmiri Hindus would return to their homeland with dignity. “We have not gathered here to celebrate this event. We will celebrate only after the Ram Mandir is built at Ayodhya. We will celebrate only after four lakh Kashmiri Hindus return to their homes with respect. We will celebrate when no cows are slaughtered on this earth”, Togadia said.
He also opposed the decision of Telangana government to provide 12 per cent reservation to Muslims.
Saying that some Hindus were converted during Mughal and some during Victorian rule, now it was the time to become Hindu again. VHP would gladly welcome anyone who wants to become a Hindu. He also warned that not a single hindu would be allowed to convert to other religions.
He quoted figures to substantiate his claim that hindus were being suppressed everywhere. He said, There was a time when everyone was Hindu. Even in India everyone was Hindu. In Bangladesh there were 30 per cent Hindus which came down to 8 per cent. In Pakistan, population of Hindus is now only one per cent from 10 per cent earlier.
He also warned that VHP would not tolerate the things like love-jihad and dishonoring of hindus.
