Wealthy dalits should not avail reservations: Jr Paswan

chiragChirag Paswan, a first time MP and son of Union minister and Lok Janasakthi leader Ram Vilas Paswan has kicked off a debate by calling upon the welloff dalits to stop availing benefits of reservations.
“When you are financially sound and able to bear the expenses of children education or their marriages, running the family and also the fact that you are getting respect socially, where is the need for reservations”, he asked. The prosperous lot should voluntarily give up quota as it would be helpful to those who really need it, he added. Law will not act, you should act on volition, he averred.
The congress party was quick to back the suggestion. “It is not which must be dismissed out of hand. Voluntarily applied, it would lead to benefit for the core, deserving beneficiaries,” Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said.
Janata Dal (United) leader Pawan Verma taunted Paswan over his remark, saying that he should first apply the same to himself.
