Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly Speaker, on Wednesday reprimanded the Leader of Opposition YS Jaganmohan Reddy on his demand for a debate over the new state capital as the YSRCP legislators tried to freeze the proceedings by protesting in the well of the House.
“You are getting prejudiced. You can’t dictate the agenda (of the House), you can only take part in the discussion”, said the Speaker. The ruling TDP legislators suggested the opposition to learn the rules and procedures of the Assembly.
Speaking in the assembly, YS Jaganmohan reddy asked, “There are reports that the chief minister set an auspicious ‘muhurtam’ for making a statement (in the House) on the new capital. How can he make a statement without a discussion? What is the use of a discussion in the event?”
“How the government could unilaterally decide where the capital should be located without discussing the Sivaramakrishnan Committee report”, added Jagan.
Meanwhile, sports minister K Atchannaidu informed the house that the chief minister would make a statement on the issue in the assembly tomorrow and also table the committee report in the House.
