“Your Voice, Our Pledge,” says Congress, while releasing the party manifesto for the upcoming general elections. Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Vice President Rahul Gandhi, PM Man Mohan Singh, Manifesto committee chairman AK Antony and several other leaders have participated in the meeting held at New Delhi.
Five areas, 1) Pvt. Sector quotas, 2) Right to Health, 3) Pension schemes, 4) Women reservation, 5) Anti corruption measures will be key focus areas for Congress for the next term of government.
During the occasion, Rahul Gandhi has said that the voice of the people of the country is present in this announced manifesto. The quota proposal in the private sector is believed to have been specially proposed and formulated by Rahul Gandhi’s internal team member, former IAS Koppula Raju.
Sonia Gandhi has said that the opinions of people from across the country were gathered by Rahul and had been incorporated in the vision document. The last ten years have seen tremendous growth in all sectors, especially for backward classes. The right to health will be ensured in the future. Senior citizens and handicapped will get pension. 2014 elections, will be a test to Congress to keep the unity of the Country strong. Congress has to see that forces inciting division are kept at bay. We will fight for a secular country.
The Committee was headed by AK Antony, with P Chidambaram, Sushilkumar Shinde, Anand Sharma, Salman Khurshid, Sandeep Dikshit, Ajit Jogi, Renuka Chowdhary, PL Punia, Mohan Gopal, Jairam Ramesh and Digvijay Singh as members.
