Former Union minister and senior Congress leader Sushil Kumar Shinde visited Charlapalli in the city outskirts where nearly 29 HCU students were arrested and jailed, for allegedly vandalising the VC’s office in the campus.
Expressing solidarity, he said that students’ demand of axing the VC was meaningful. He said that a professor was beaten up and arrested just for standing on the wayside and videographing the whole incident. “Appa Rao who is facing charges of abusing the dalits and a case under SC-ST Atrocities Act. He should be dismissed immediately” Shinde demanded. He said cause of tension in the campus was VC and none else. He should have been kept out of the premises as students are suspecting his motives, he added. The Union HRD is also equally culpable, Shinde averred.
